Relational Sensibility

‘Relational Sensibility’ is part of Displaced Self –an Interactive project between Navjot Altaf, Belle Shafir and Stefania Corbelli - 2003.

It is a two channel video installation questioning whether in any given situation everyone knows everything or knows enough. Do we look at things in relative terms to develop the sensibility to know and to communicate?

Monica, a student learning sign language at Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped in Mumbai enacts the narrative, which appears letter by letter but if a viewer is interested in reading the full narrative s/he can write down each letter to know the full text.
